The Arkansas rules in full, with citations

The Board's rules were recodified into the Code of Arkansas Rules of 2024, which is what renumbered the seal rule out of the Board's pre-2024 article numbering into 17 CAR § 285-602. The substance is unchanged from the text effective June 1, 2022. Seals previously acquired in compliance with then current rules need not be changed. The same text appears as Section XII.A of the Board's Administrative Rules effective February 7, 2022; the Code of Arkansas Rules codifies it as 17 CAR § 230-1201 under the authority of Ark. Code Ann. § 17-15-203. Subsection (b)(1)(C) ends with "as follows:" followed by an illustrative seal image, so the inner-circle layout is shown graphically rather than described in words.

FAQ

Arkansas Landscape Architect Seal FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Arkansas digital landscape architect stamps and seals.

How do I obtain a digital Arkansas landscape architect seal or stamp?

Once you are licensed in Arkansas, you can generate your seal here and download it immediately. Fill in the form and position your signature if you want one. The layout follows 17 CAR § 230-1201 (Ark. Code Ann. § 17-15-203), which is the provision the Arkansas State Board of Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers will measure the seal against.

What are the requirements for the Arkansas landscape architect stamp or seal?

Arkansas landscape architect seal rule is 17 CAR § 230-1201 (Ark. Code Ann. § 17-15-203), administered by the Arkansas State Board of Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers, a different body from the engineering board. The seal must carry “Registered Landscape Architect – State of Arkansas”, and two (2) concentric circles one and one-half inches (1.5") and one inch (1") in diameter.

A further 10 requirements, each tied to the subsection that imposes it, are itemised in the Arkansas requirements section on this page.

What size does an Arkansas landscape architect seal have to be?

Two (2) concentric circles one and one-half inches (1.5") and one inch (1") in diameter. This is set by 17 CAR § 230-1201(b)(1)(A).

Can you stamp a signature but not the seal?

Arkansas splits the two: signature reproductions such as rubber stamps or computer-generated facsimiles are permitted on original documents, while the seal must be personally inscribed by the landscape architect, who is responsible for its security when not in use. (17 CAR § 230-1201(c)(7), (c)(8))

Releasing CAD files to a client?

The seal may not simply be deleted. Where electronic drawing files are requested as reference documents, a prescribed record-copy statement must be substituted for the seal, naming the individual and address holding the record copy and stating the file shall not be used for construction. (17 CAR § 230-1201(c)(4))

Sending out an unfinished set?

Incomplete contract documents may go out unsealed only if they bear the landscape architect's name and are conspicuously marked as for interim review and not intended for bidding, permit, or construction. (17 CAR § 230-1201(c)(2))
