Connecticut Landscape Architect Stamp Requirements

Board approved

Your Connecticut Landscape Architect seal from pedigitalstamps.com meets every requirement on this page — the required wording and the layout set out in Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b); R.C.S.A. §§ 20-368-12a, 20-368-13a. Fill in your details and download it in seconds.

The Connecticut rules in full, with citations

The 1¼-to-2-inch range often quoted for Connecticut appears in no Connecticut authority. The Board prescribes a single diameter, 1½ inches. CGS § 20-304 is only the enabling authority for seal regulations, and CGS § 20-302 is "Requirements for licensure" — neither describes the seal. The regulation prescribes the seal by an image rather than by measurements, so the only enforceable description of arrangement is the facsimile in R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(b); it shows the Connecticut state coat of arms at the centre. Sections 20-368-1a to 20-368-16a were last amended October 21, 2019.

Landscape Architect seal

Board:
State Board of Landscape Architects, Department of Consumer Protection
Diameter:
No diameter is stated. § 20-372(b) prescribes wording but no dimension, and R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(a) fixes the "design, arrangement, size, and wording" only by reference to the facsimile figure reproduced in the rule, which carries no dimension markings.
Legend:
“licensed landscape architect, state of Connecticut”
  • "Each landscape architect licensed under this chapter shall have a seal approved by the board, which shall contain the name of the landscape architect and the words 'licensed landscape architect, state of Connecticut', and such other words or figures as the board may deem necessary." (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b))
  • "Working drawings or reports prepared for plans or projects which by the terms of this chapter shall be prepared by a licensed landscape architect shall be stamped with the seal of the landscape architect." (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b))
  • "All final plans, drawings, specifications, reports or other documents involving the practice of landscape architecture which are prepared or approved by any such corporation or limited liability company or landscape architect for use of or for delivery to any person or for public record within this state shall be dated and bear the signature and seal of the landscape architect who prepared them or under whose supervision they were prepared." (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-369a(d))
  • "Each person granted a license shall purchase and use a seal, the design, arrangement, size, and wording of which shall conform to that indicated in the figure below, including the name and license number of the licensee. The seal impression may be made on hardcopy documents by a stamping or embossing device, provided the impression shall be clear and legible, or on electronic documents by use of a computer-generated representation of the seal." The figure shows "STATE OF CONNECTICUT" around the top of the outer ring and "LICENSED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT" around the bottom, with the licensee's name above and "NO." plus the license number below the state coat of arms in the inner circle. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(a), (b))
  • "Seals may be purchased and used by a person granted a license only after receipt of the license number from the board." (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(c))
  • The seal must be applied to plans, drawings, specifications or other documents pertaining to any project submitted to the licensee's client, and is required on any such document submitted for public review for all works involving the practice of landscape architecture. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-13a(a), (b))
  • "A landscape architect shall not sign or seal drawings, specifications, reports, or other professional work for which the landscape architect does not have direct professional knowledge and direct supervisory control" — except that consultants' portions may be signed or sealed where the landscape architect has reviewed and coordinated them and intends to be responsible for their adequacy. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-13a(c))
  • An electronic seal is permitted on electronic documents if it is unique to the landscape architect, verifiable, under the landscape architect's direct and exclusive control, and linked to the document so that any later change is easily determined and visually displayed or invalidates the seal; an electronically transmitted document must be converted to a read-only format. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-13a(d))
  • "A landscape architect may electronically transmit an electronic document without affixing an electronic seal, provided there is inserted the following language in lieu of the seal: 'This shall not be considered a sealed document.'" (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-13a(e))

FAQ

Connecticut Landscape Architect Seal FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Connecticut digital landscape architect stamps and seals.

How do I obtain a digital Connecticut landscape architect seal or stamp?

Once you are licensed in Connecticut, you can generate your seal here and download it immediately. Fill in the form and position your signature if you want one. The layout follows Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b); R.C.S.A. §§ 20-368-12a, 20-368-13a, which is the provision the State Board of Landscape Architects, Department of Consumer Protection will measure the seal against.

What are the requirements for the Connecticut landscape architect stamp or seal?

Connecticut’s landscape architect seal rule is Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b); R.C.S.A. §§ 20-368-12a, 20-368-13a, administered by the State Board of Landscape Architects, Department of Consumer Protection, a different body from the engineering board. The seal must carry “licensed landscape architect, state of Connecticut”, and no diameter is stated. § 20-372(b) prescribes wording but no dimension, and R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(a) fixes the "design, arrangement, size, and wording" only by reference to the facsimile figure reproduced in the rule, which carries no dimension markings.

A further 9 requirements, each tied to the subsection that imposes it, are itemised in the Connecticut requirements section on this page.

What size does a Connecticut landscape architect seal have to be?

Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-372(b); R.C.S.A. §§ 20-368-12a, 20-368-13a governs the Connecticut landscape architect’s seal but does not prescribe a diameter. Sizes quoted for Connecticut elsewhere generally come from stamp suppliers’ catalogues rather than from the rule. What the rule does require is that your name and license number stay clearly legible.

Are you emailing an unsealed PDF?

Connecticut requires the sentence "This shall not be considered a sealed document." to be inserted in place of the seal when an electronic document is transmitted without an electronic seal. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-13a(e))

Do you have your license number yet?

A seal may be purchased and used only after the licensee receives the license number from the board. (R.C.S.A. § 20-368-12a(c))
