Alaska Landscape Architect Stamp Requirements

Board approved

Your Alaska Landscape Architect seal from pedigitalstamps.com meets every requirement on this page — the required wording and the layout set out in AS 08.48.221; 12 AAC 36.180(a), (d); 12 AAC 36.185. Fill in your details and download it in seconds.

The Alaska rules in full, with citations

AS 08.48.221 now contemplates a seal for registered interior designers, but 12 AAC 36.180 as printed in the June 2026 edition still shows only the architect, landscape architect, land surveyor, structural engineer and professional engineer designs. The board's legal name does not mention landscape architects, and the regulation chapter is headed "Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors" — but AS 08.48 and 12 AAC 36 register landscape architects and 12 AAC 36.180(d) prescribes their seal. The Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing publishes the combined statutes-and-regulations booklet cited here (revision 6/23/2026).

Landscape Architect seal

Board:
State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors
Diameter:
No diameter is prescribed. AS 08.48.221(a) says only that the seal be "of the design authorized by the board," and 12 AAC 36.180(d) supplies that design as a reproduced image with no stated dimension; a "substantially similar electronic or digital representation" is expressly allowed.
Legend:
“State of Alaska, Registered Professional Landscape Architect”
  • Each registrant may obtain a seal of the design authorized by the board, bearing the registrant's name, registration number, and the appropriate legend for architect, engineer, land surveyor, landscape architect, or registered interior designer. When a registrant issues final drawings, specifications, surveys, plats, plates, reports, or similar documents, the registrant shall stamp the documents with the seal and sign the seal. (AS 08.48.221(a))
  • The seal authorized for use by professional landscape architects is of the design shown in the regulation or a substantially similar electronic or digital representation of that design; as reproduced, the design carries "STATE OF ALASKA" around the upper edge, "REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT" around the lower edge, a "49TH" star device, and interior lines reading "(Affix Original Signature)", "(Your Name)" and "No. ____". (12 AAC 36.180(d))
  • The license number noted on the seal must be only the numeric characters of the registrant's license number and exclude alpha characters. (12 AAC 36.180(a))
  • A registrant shall seal only final drawings, surveys, reports, and required construction documents for which the registrant is qualified to seal and for which the registrant claims responsibility, and may not sign or seal work for which the registrant does not have direct professional knowledge and direct supervisory control. (12 AAC 36.185(a)(3), (a)(7))
  • The registrant shall include the date each time the registrant signs and seals a document by electronically or manually inserting the date within the seal or within two inches of the seal. (12 AAC 36.185(d))
  • A registrant shall validate the seal on a document that has either an original handwritten signature over each seal, or an electronic image of the original handwritten signature and a digital signature; the electronic image must be permanently affixed to each seal directly over the seal, and the digital signature must be unique to the registrant, capable of verification, under the registrant's exclusive control, and linked to the document so that it is invalidated if the document is changed. (12 AAC 36.185(f))
  • The registrant shall include on all documents that are required to be signed and sealed the business name, physical address and telephone number; the project name or identification; the project address or location; and the certificate of authorization number issued to the firm, if applicable. (12 AAC 36.185(g))
  • A landscape architect may not affix or permit a seal and signature to be affixed to an instrument after the expiration of a certificate, or for the purpose of aiding or abetting another person to evade the chapter. Final drawings, specifications, surveys, plats, plates, reports, or similar documents containing the work of multiple fields of practice shall be sealed and signed by a registrant in each field of practice covered by the document. (AS 08.48.221(a), (b))

FAQ

Alaska Landscape Architect Seal FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Alaska digital landscape architect stamps and seals.

How do I obtain a digital Alaska landscape architect seal or stamp?

Once you are licensed in Alaska, you can generate your seal here and download it immediately. Fill in the form and position your signature if you want one. The layout follows AS 08.48.221; 12 AAC 36.180(a), (d); 12 AAC 36.185, which is the provision the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors will measure the seal against.

What are the requirements for the Alaska landscape architect stamp or seal?

Alaska’s landscape architect seal rule is AS 08.48.221; 12 AAC 36.180(a), (d); 12 AAC 36.185, administered by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors. The seal must carry “State of Alaska, Registered Professional Landscape Architect”, and no diameter is prescribed. AS 08.48.221(a) says only that the seal be "of the design authorized by the board," and 12 AAC 36.180(d) supplies that design as a reproduced image with no stated dimension; a "substantially similar electronic or digital representation" is expressly allowed.

A further 8 requirements, each tied to the subsection that imposes it, are itemised in the Alaska requirements section on this page.

What size does an Alaska landscape architect seal have to be?

AS 08.48.221; 12 AAC 36.180(a), (d); 12 AAC 36.185 governs the Alaska landscape architect’s seal but does not prescribe a diameter. Sizes quoted for Alaska elsewhere generally come from stamp suppliers’ catalogues rather than from the rule. What the rule does require is that your name and license number stay clearly legible.

Does the number on your seal include letters?

12 AAC 36.180(a) requires the license number noted on the seal to be only the numeric characters of the registrant's license number, excluding alpha characters — so a discipline prefix carried on the licence itself does not belong on the seal. (12 AAC 36.180(a))

Is the date close enough to the seal?

Alaska fixes a distance: the date must sit within the seal or within two inches of it. (12 AAC 36.185(d))

Is the signature over the seal?

The seal is only validated by an original handwritten signature over each seal, or by an electronic image of that signature permanently affixed directly over the seal together with a digital signature meeting four stated conditions. (12 AAC 36.185(f))
