The Alabama rules in full, with citations

Chapter 330-X-11 is still published under the Board's former name, Alabama State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Seals obtained before the rule was adopted that conform to prior Board rules remain acceptable. The Alabama Administrative Code chapter is still captioned "Alabama State Board of Registration for Interior Design", while Ala. Code § 34-15C-4 and the agency's own site use "Alabama Board for Registered Interior Designers"; they are the same body. Rule 485-X-4-.01 was last amended effective December 24, 2018.

FAQ

Alabama Interior Designer Seal FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Alabama digital interior designer stamps and seals.

How do I obtain a digital Alabama interior designer seal or stamp?

Once you are licensed in Alabama, you can generate your seal here and download it immediately. Fill in the form and position your signature if you want one. The layout follows Ala. Code § 34-15C-8; Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01, which is the provision the Alabama Board for Registered Interior Designers will measure the seal against.

What are the requirements for the Alabama interior designer stamp or seal?

Alabama’s interior designer stamp rule is Ala. Code § 34-15C-8; Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01, administered by the Alabama Board for Registered Interior Designers, a different body from the engineering board. The seal must carry “Registered Interior Designer”, and two inches in diameter. Rule 485-X-4-.01(3) states the seal "shall be circular, two inches in diameter" — the only dimension in either the statute or the rule.

A further 8 requirements, each tied to the subsection that imposes it, are itemised in the Alabama requirements section on this page.

What size does an Alabama interior designer stamp have to be?

Two inches in diameter. Rule 485-X-4-.01(3) states the seal "shall be circular, two inches in diameter" — the only dimension in either the statute or the rule. This is set by Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(3).

Can a firm or studio name go on an Alabama interior designer's seal?

No. Rule 485-X-4-.01(3) states seals are for individual use only and are not to utilize the name of the business entity — only the registrant's own name and registration number belong inside the inner circle. (Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(3))

Must the electronic seal be bought from the Board?

The rule does not say so. Rule 485-X-4-.01(2) lets the registrant create his or her own seal, including a computer-generated one; (5) says the Board "shall, with a fee, offer an electronic seal in AutoCAD format" — an offer the Board must make, not a purchase the registrant must make. (Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(2), (5))
