Alabama Interior Designer seal requirements: proper sizing, signing and sealing of documents
As of
Alabama registers interior designers under the Alabama Interior Design Registration Act of 2010, and both the Act and the Board's rule prescribe the seal. Ala. Code § 34-15C-8(a) requires the registrant's name, a design authorized by the board, the legend "Registered Interior Designer", the words "State of Alabama" and the registration number; Rule 485-X-4-.01(3) fixes the seal as circular and two inches in diameter, with "STATE OF ALABAMA" reading across the top of the outer circle and "REGISTERED INTERIOR DESIGNER" across the bottom, and the name and registration number inside the inner circle. The seal is for individual use only and may not carry a business entity name.

Chapter 330-X-11 is still published under the Board's former name, Alabama State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Seals obtained before the rule was adopted that conform to prior Board rules remain acceptable. The Alabama Administrative Code chapter is still captioned "Alabama State Board of Registration for Interior Design", while Ala. Code § 34-15C-4 and the agency's own site use "Alabama Board for Registered Interior Designers"; they are the same body. Rule 485-X-4-.01 was last amended effective December 24, 2018.

- Signature date
- No signature or date of signing is required. Rule 485-X-4-.01(5) requires only that the seal be affixed to final drawings, plans, specifications and reports, and (6) treats affixing the seal itself as the registrant's certification; neither the rule nor § 34-15C-8 mentions a signature or a date.(Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(5), (6); Ala. Code § 34-15C-8)
- City on seal
- No place of business appears on the seal. The rule's design guideline admits only the two legend phrases in the outer circle and the name and registration number in the inner circle, and expressly bars the business entity's name.(Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(3))

- The registrant's seal must be affixed on all final drawings, plans, specifications, and reports whenever presented to a client or any public or governmental agency for the purpose of obtaining a permit for construction. Alabama interior designer seal questions
Can a firm or studio name go on an Alabama interior designer's seal?▾
No. Rule 485-X-4-.01(3) states seals are for individual use only and are not to utilize the name of the business entity — only the registrant's own name and registration number belong inside the inner circle. (Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(3))
Must the electronic seal be bought from the Board?▾
The rule does not say so. Rule 485-X-4-.01(2) lets the registrant create his or her own seal, including a computer-generated one; (5) says the Board "shall, with a fee, offer an electronic seal in AutoCAD format" — an offer the Board must make, not a purchase the registrant must make. (Ala. Admin. Code r. 485-X-4-.01(2), (5))
