Nevada PE seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them
As of
Nevada's stamp rule is NAC 625.610, and the size it gives is a single approximate figure: a stamp or seal must be approximately 1.7 inches in diameter and conform to one of the designs printed in the rule. The legend is "Professional Engineer" followed by the discipline for which the licensee is qualified, with "State of Nevada" completing the ring, and the discipline must appear on the stamp. A licensee licensed in more than one discipline uses a separate stamp for each, except that civil and structural may share one. The expiration date of the license is optional on the stamp itself, but every document released for construction or issued as a formal or final document must bear it, so a stamp that omits it obliges the licensee to write it alongside the signature and date.
The 1 7/8 inch figure often attached to Nevada is the architect seal under NAC 623.750, which is a different board. NAC 625.610 was not touched by the board's 2024-2025 rulemaking, LCB File R007-24, which amended the professional land surveyor standards of practice at NAC 625.655 and 625.666.

- The statute requires a stamp of the design authorized by the Board, bearing the licensee's name and license number and the legend "Professional Engineer" followed by the discipline for which the licensee is qualified.(NRS 625.383(1))
- The image made by the stamp must be opaque and permanent, must state the name of the licensee, must contain the license number, must state the particular discipline in which the licensee is licensed, and may state the expiration date of the license.(NAC 625.610(3))
- A person licensed in more than one discipline of engineering uses a separate stamp for each discipline, except that a person licensed in civil engineering and structural engineering may use a single stamp for both.(NAC 625.610(2))
- The licensee validates the stamp by adding a legible signature across or adjacent to the face of the image, together with the date of stamping and, if the stamp does not carry it, the date of expiration. The name, discipline and license number must remain legible.(NAC 625.610(4))
- Surveying maps and records, and engineering plans, specifications, reports and other documents submitted to obtain permits, released for construction, or issued as formal or final documents must bear the signature, the stamp, the date of signing, and the expiration date of the license.(NAC 625.610(8))
- An electronically prepared seal and digital signature may be applied to an electronically submitted document only if secure encryption methods are in place that identify the licensee and track changes made after the document is submitted, released or issued, and the licensee believes adequate protections are in place to prevent fraud or misuse.(NAC 625.610(10))
- As-built and record plans, construction-progress observation reports, and cost estimates are not required to be stamped.(NAC 625.610(12))

Can one Nevada PE stamp cover more than one engineering discipline?▾
The discipline is mandatory on the stamp, and one stamp does not cover several disciplines. Separate stamps are required for each, with civil and structural the only pairing allowed to share one. (NAC 625.610(2) and (3)(d))
Is there a minimum diameter for a Nevada engineer stamp?▾
1.7 inches is the only figure the rule gives, and it is approximate. It is neither a floor nor one end of a range, and there is no 1½-inch minimum in Nevada. (NAC 625.610(2))
Can a Nevada engineer use a stamp to produce the signature?▾
The licensee may not use a stamp to produce the signature. The stamp validates nothing until a signature is added across or adjacent to it. (NAC 625.610(4))
Does a Nevada PE stamp have to show the license expiration date?▾
The license expiration date is optional on the stamp but mandatory on the document. If the stamp omits it, the licensee writes it with the signature and date. (NAC 625.610(3)(e), (4) and (8)(d))
