Georgia PE seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them
As of
Georgia specifies both circles: under Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 180-12-.02 the outer circle is 1½ inches in diameter and the inner circle 1 inch. The Board furnishes the registration seal design as part of licensure rather than leaving the layout to the registrant, and the rule expressly permits a crimp seal, a rubber stamp facsimile or a computer-generated seal.
Georgia is unusual in specifying both circles: the outer at 1½ inches and the inner at 1 inch. The Board furnishes the seal design at licensure.

- Expiration date
- Rule 180-12-.01 fixes only the seal's form — circular, 1½ inch outer and 1 inch inner diameter — and leaves the design itself to be furnished by the Board at licensure; it imposes no expiration date. The expiration date the rule does require is the firm's Certificate of Authorization expiry, and it goes on the document beside the seal, not on the seal, and it is the entity's rather than the licensee's.(Ga. - Signature date
- The registrant shall seal, sign and date all original final documents issued to a client or any public agency, and each drawing sheet. For engineering documents the date of signature goes immediately under the seal and signature.(Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r. 180-12-.02(3), (6))
- City on seal
- Rule 180-12-.01 prescribes only the seal's circular form and its two diameters and leaves the design to the Board; it puts no city or place of business on the seal. Rule 180-12-.02(7) does require the name, address and contact information of the firm or sole practitioner — but on the sealed document, not on the seal.(Ga. Comp. Georgia engineer seal questions
Does a Georgia seal need an inner circle, or is one 1½-inch circle enough?▾
The inner circle is part of the specification. A single-circle seal scaled to 1½ inches does not match the design the Board furnishes. (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 180-12-.02)
Do Georgia's sealing rules apply to documents issued in digital form?▾
