Illinois PE seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them
As of
Illinois puts the state inside the legend. Under 68 Ill. Adm. Code § 1380.295 the seal carries your name, your license number and the words "Licensed Professional Engineer of Illinois", and no diameter is prescribed. A reproducible seal or facsimile is permitted and may be computer generated. Illinois then asks for something most states do not: your license expiration date has to appear adjacent to the seal, alongside your signature and the date of signing.
Illinois licenses structural engineers under a separate Act with its own seal rule (68 Ill. Adm. Code 1480.145); a structural engineer's seal is not the PE seal below. Note also that the license expiration date has to sit next to the seal — a detail that catches out-of-state filers.
