Ohio Landscape Architect seal requirements: proper sizing, signing and sealing of documents
As of
Ohio prescribes the landscape architect's seal by rule: Ohio Admin. Code 4703:1-3-01(A) fixes it at two inches in diameter with a concentric circle one and three-eighths inches in diameter, the words "state of Ohio" at the top of the annular space and "landscape architect" at the bottom, and the landscape architect's name and registration number horizontally within the inner circle. Sealing is mandatory — Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.36(C) requires the seal on all plans, specifications, drawings and other documents prepared by or under the landscape architect's direct supervision — and the seal is applied over an ink or electronic signature. Embossing seals, rubber stamps, electronically generated seals and other reproducible facsimiles are all allowed.

Ohio's rule prescribes the legend but not a diameter. Sizes quoted around the web for Ohio come from stamp vendors' catalogues, not from the Administrative Code. Rule 4703:1-3-01(B), effective April 1, 2008, cross-refers to "division (D) of section 4703.32 of the Revised Code"; in the version of § 4703.32 effective December 19, 2013 the landscape architect stamp provision sits at division (F). The rule is promulgated under Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.33 and amplifies § 4703.32. The landscape architects board is separate from the Ohio Architects Board, whose seal rule (4703-3-01) is a different rule.

Ohio landscape architect seal questions
Does the statute's choice of three legends mean an Ohio landscape architect can pick any of them?▾
Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.32(F) lists "registered landscape architect," "professional landscape architect," or "landscape architect," but it authorises only a stamp "of the design authorized by the board," and the board's design rule places the words "landscape architect" at the bottom of the annular space with "state of Ohio" at the top. (Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.32(F); Ohio Admin. Code 4703:1-3-01(A))
Does the Ohio seal carry a date of registration?▾
The statute describes the stamp as bearing the registrant's name, date of registration, certificate number and legend, but the board's design rule places only the name and the registration number inside the inner circle and provides no date field. (Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.32(F); Ohio Admin. Code 4703:1-3-01(A))
