Louisiana Landscape Architect seal requirements: proper sizing, signing and sealing of documents
As of
Louisiana licenses landscape architects through the Horticulture Commission at the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, so the seal rule sits in LAC Title 7 rather than the professional-standards title. LAC 7:XXIX.117.B.3.a prescribes a circular seal 1 5/8 inches in diameter with "State of Louisiana" along the top circumference, "Licensed Landscape Architect" along the bottom circumference, the individual's name horizontally in the centre of the field and the registration number below it. The licensee must sign his or her legal name on each document and then affix the seal over that signature.

The 1½-to-2-inch range quoted for Louisiana matches no provision of §2701; the rule gives two discrete sizes, 1-5/8 inch and 2 inch. The endorsement legend at §2701.A.2.a.v was added by the April 2025 amendment, LR 51:553. Landscape architects here are licensed by the Horticulture Commission within the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, not by LAPELS or the architects' board, so the governing rules sit in LAC Title 7 (Agriculture and Animals), Part XXIX, rather than Title 46 (Professional and Occupational Standards). The authority note to §117 is "Promulgated in accordance with R.S. 3:3801 and R.S. 3:3808." §117.B.3.a refers to "the example printed herein", and the Title 7 compilation prints a specimen seal immediately after that subparagraph; rendered from the file, it carries "STATE OF LOUISIANA" on the top arc, "LICENSED" on a short inner arc above "LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT" on the bottom arc, the state pelican device in the upper field, and a sample name line with a "REG. No." line beneath it. The prose enumerates only the two circumference legends, the name and the registration number, so the pelican device appears in the example rather than in the words of the rule. The rule text quoted here was read in the state-certified Louisiana Administrative Code Title 7 file published by the Division of Administration, Office of the State Register (indexed at https://www.doa.la.gov/doa/osr/louisiana-administrative-code/, last amended July 2026); the statute was read at legis.la.gov.

Louisiana landscape architect seal questions
Do the seal and the signature overlap?▾
Yes. LAC 7:XXIX.117.B.3.c requires the licensee to sign his or her legal name first and then affix the seal over that signature; a seal placed beside the signature does not follow the rule. (LAC 7:XXIX.117.B.3.c)
Is an electronic seal covered by the rule?▾
The rule names only the official seal and a rubber stamp facsimile conforming to it; §117.B.3 contains no electronic or digital seal provision. (LAC 7:XXIX.117.B.3.a-c)
