Oklahoma Interior Designer seal requirements: proper sizing, signing and sealing of documents

As of

Oklahoma licenses interior designers, and both the Act and the rule prescribe the same wording: 59 O.S. § 46.42 and OAC 55:10-11-8(a)(2) require a seal containing the licensee's name, Oklahoma license number and the words "Licensed Interior Designer, State of Oklahoma." The rule requires the seal to be a circle but sets no diameter, and permits a rubber stamp or an electronic image. All technical submissions must be sealed, signed and dated, with the date affixed across the seal.

The board writes its own name as the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors; OAC Title 245 and 59 O.S. § 475.3 still read "Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors". The seal rules for architects, landscape architects and licensed interior designers were consolidated into a single section, OAC 55:10-11-8; the former 55:10-11-9 through 55:10-11-13 are revoked. The Board publishes the current OAC 55:10 (effective August 3, 2026) and the Act (effective July 1, 2026) as PDFs on its statutes-and-laws page; the rules PDF is titled "OK 2026 Rules Changes - Clean Copy."

Oklahoma Interior Designer seal

Legend
“Licensed Interior Designer, State of Oklahoma”
Diameter
No diameter is prescribed. OAC 55:10-11-8(a)(2) requires only that the seal "be a circle" containing the name, license number and legend, and 59 O.S. § 46.42 states no dimension; the word "inch" does not appear in either the Act or OAC 55:10.
Expiration date
Both the statute and the rule fix the seal's contents as name, license number and the legend, and neither adds an expiration or renewal date.(59 O.S. § 46.42; OAC 55:10-11-8(a)(2))
Signature date
Technical submissions must be "sealed, signed and dated," and the rule places the date on the seal itself: "The handwritten or electronically generated date shall be affixed across their seal."(59 O.S. § 46.42; OAC 55:10-11-8(c))
City on seal
Neither 59 O.S. § 46.42 nor OAC 55:10-11-8(a)(2) requires a city, address or place of business in or beside the seal.(59 O.S. § 46.42; OAC 55:10-11-8(a)(2))

Oklahoma interior designer seal questions

Does the Oklahoma seal still read "Registered Commercial Interior Designer"?

Oklahoma retitled the credential: the Act is now the State Architectural and Licensed Interior Designers Act, and 59 O.S. § 46.42 requires the words "Licensed Interior Designer, State of Oklahoma." The former "Registered Commercial Interior Designer" seal rule, OAC 55:10-11-13, has been revoked. (59 O.S. §§ 46.1, 46.42; OAC 55:10-11-13 [Revoked])

Where does the date go on an Oklahoma seal?

OAC 55:10-11-8(c) requires the handwritten or electronically generated date to be affixed across the seal, not merely somewhere on the sheet. (OAC 55:10-11-8(c))

Is sealing the drawing sheets enough in Oklahoma?

OAC 55:10-11-8(c)(1) requires the seal, signature and date on all technical submissions and on the original cover sheet and the page identifying all specification pages covered, including addenda and field changes. (OAC 55:10-11-8(c)(1))
