Alaska Architect seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them
As of
Architects in Alaska seal under 12 AAC 36.180(a) (Seal), administered by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors. The seal reads “Registered Professional Architect”. The rule prescribes an illustrated design, not a diameter. No size is given in AS 08.48 or 12 AAC 36.
AS 08.48.221 now contemplates a seal for registered interior designers, but 12 AAC 36.180 as printed in the June 2026 edition still shows only the architect, landscape architect, land surveyor, structural engineer and professional engineer designs.

No — the word "Professional" belongs in the middle of it. The design the rule illustrates arcs REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECT across the bottom, under STATE OF ALASKA across the top, and the registrant's seal must be that design or a substantially similar electronic or digital representation of it. Does the Alaska architect's seal design include a signature line?▾
It does. The illustrated design carries a ruled line labeled "(Affix Signature)" across the middle of the seal, with "(Your Name)" and "No." beneath it and a five-point star and the "49 TH" device above it. What license number goes on an Alaska architect's seal?▾
Only the numeric characters of it — the rule requires alpha characters to be excluded, so a license issued as A-1234 is sealed as No. 1234. Nothing is added in front of the digits either: the two-character branch identifier that must precede the number is a rule for the professional engineer's seal, and the architect design shows only "No." and a blank rule.
