Alabama Architect seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them

Architects in Alabama seal under Ala. Admin. Code r. 100-X-5-.03 (The Architect's Seal), administered by the Alabama State Board for Registration of Architects. The seal reads “Registered Architect”. Circular, two inches in diameter.
Chapter 330-X-11 is still published under the Board's former name, Alabama State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Seals obtained before the rule was adopted that conform to prior Board rules remain acceptable.

Which Alabama board writes the architect seal rule?▾
Not the engineering board. The architect's seal is fixed by Ala. Admin. Code r. 100-X-5-.03, a rule of the Alabama State Board for Registration of Architects made under Code of Ala. 1975, § 34-2-35. Chapter 330-X-11, the seal chapter every Alabama write-up quotes, belongs to the engineering and land surveying board and says nothing about architects. (Ala. Admin. Is an Alabama architect's seal exactly two inches?▾
Yes, and there is no range. The rule states one diameter — "The seal shall be circular, two inches in diameter" — so the 1-5/8-to-2-inch band published for Alabama engineers and land surveyors under a different board's rule is not an architect's allowance and does not authorize a smaller architect's seal. Does an Alabama architect's seal say "Licensed Architect"?▾
No. The outer circle reads "STATE OF ALABAMA" at the top and "REGISTERED ARCHITECT" at the bottom, with the architect's name and registration number inside the inner circle. The rule allows a rubber stamp, an impression seal, or a computer-generated seal, but it closes that list with the qualifier "if allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction." What happens to the first seal when an Alabama architect takes over a job?▾
It comes off. Where a successor architect takes over a project, the successor holds control of and responsibility for the work product and all references to the original architect — title block, seal, signatures and the rest — must be removed from the documents.
