State boards

An office manager or a principal usually orders this one, because the name on it belongs to the business. Under G.S. 89C-24 a corporation or business firm may not practice engineering or land surveying in North Carolina unless the Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors licenses the firm itself. This is the firm-level mark: company name, firm number, nobody's personal name.

FAQ
Common questions about the north carolina certificate of authorization digital stamp.
No. The board's firm seal rule, 21 NCAC 56.1105, states that a firm seal is not authorized for use in lieu of the required seal of a professional engineer or professional land surveyor, and that using one does not relieve the individual licensee of their own responsibilities.
The board's business application material calls it firm licensure, while its rules elsewhere refer to a firm holding a certificate of authorization. Both point at the same standing. If a client or a reviewing agency wants particular wording on your documents, settle it with the board.
The company name and the number issued to the firm. Nothing on this seal is personal, so it can be prepared once by whoever keeps the firm's records and handed to the people who assemble drawing sets, rather than being reissued per employee.
