Diameter

Two circles — a smaller one 1-1/8" in diameter within a larger one 1-1/2" in diameter.

Expiration date

The expiration date of the license is required in the authentication block written below the seal, alongside the signature — it is not part of the seal design in § 16-115-8(a)(1).(Haw. Admin. R. §§ 16-115-9(a), 16-115-8(a)(1))

Signature date

The prescribed authentication blocks call for the statement, the signature and the expiration date of the license; no date of signing is required by the rule.(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-9(a), (b), (c))

City on seal

The only place designation the seal carries is "Hawaii, U.S.A." in the annular space; no city or place of business is required.(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-8(a)(1))

• "The licensee shall use a seal or stamp that is legible and reproducible of the following design: (1) Two circles - a smaller one, 1-1/8" in diameter, within a larger one, 1-1/2" in diameter. The name of the licensee and the words "Hawaii, U.S.A." shall be in the outer or annular space. The words ... "Licensed Professional Landscape Architect", together with the licensee's license number, shall be inserted in the center space".(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-8(a)(1))
• "All plans, specifications, maps, reports, surveys, and descriptions prepared by or under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer, architect, land surveyor, or landscape architect submitted to public officials for approval shall be stamped with the authorized seal or stamp and authenticated as provided in section 16-115-9."(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-8(c))
• "All plans, specifications, maps, reports, surveys, descriptions, and every sheet in a set of design drawings ... shall be stamped with the authorized seal or stamp when filed with public officials. Below the seal or stamp, the authentication shall state "This work was prepared by me or under my supervision", be signed by the licensee, and state the expiration date of the license".(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-9(a))
• Where applications are made for building or construction permits involving public safety or health, plans and specifications shall bear the authorized seal of the licensee charged with observation of construction, with the authentication "Construction of this project will be under my observation", signed and stating the expiration date of the license; where the licensee has both design and observation responsibility, a combined statement is prescribed.(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-9(b), (c))
• "All signatures required under this section shall be an original or a digital signature is also acceptable. The use of rubber signature stamps or other facsimile signatures is prohibited."(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-9(e))
• A licensee whose seal and signature appear with a construction-observation statement and who is removed, replaced, or otherwise unable to discharge those duties must notify the appropriate public official in writing within fifteen days, naming the licensee continuing the construction observation if known.(Haw. Admin. R. § 16-115-9(d))
• "Every licensee may use a seal or rubber stamp of the design authorized by the board bearing the licensee's name and the words ... "licensed landscape architect", or otherwise as may be authorized by the board. All plans, specifications, maps, and reports prepared by or under the supervision of a licensed engineer, architect, surveyor, or landscape architect shall be stamped with such seal or stamp when filed with public officials. It shall be unlawful for anyone to seal or stamp any document with such seal or stamp after the license has expired or has been revoked or suspended unless such license has been renewed or reissued."(HRS § 464-11)
