Diameter

Appendix A to IDAPA 24.04.01 fixes the design: "Diameter of Outer Ring: 1 1/2 Inches. Diameter of Inner Ring: 1 Inch." Idaho Code § 54-2815 prescribes no dimension and leaves the design to the board.

Expiration date

The rule states that beyond the seal, signature and date "No further words or wording are required", and the Appendix A design carries only the name and registration number — no expiration or renewal date. Section 54-2815 requires only that the certificate be current when the seal is affixed.(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02 and Appendix A; Idaho Code § 54-2815)

Signature date

"The Registrant's signature and date are also included", and the seal, signature and date must appear on all final and all original documents. A handwritten signature must sit adjacent to or across the seal.(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02, .200.02.a, .200.02.b)

City on seal

Neither § 54-2815 nor IDAPA 24.04.01 mentions the registrant's city, address or place of business; Appendix A shows only the name and number inside the seal.(Idaho Code § 54-2815; IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02 and Appendix A)

• "Each registrant hereunder may, upon registration, obtain a seal of the design authorized by the board, bearing the registrant's name and the legend 'registered professional geologist.'"(Idaho Code § 54-2815)
• "All drawings, specifications, reports, or other geologic papers or documents involving geologic work as defined in section 54-2802, Idaho Code, which shall have been prepared or approved by a registered geologist or prepared by a subordinate employee under the direction of a registered geologist, for the use of or for delivery to any person or for public record within this state shall be signed by the geologist or be impressed with an authorized seal or the seal of a nonresident practicing under the provisions of section 54-2822, Idaho Code, either of which shall indicate responsibility for the papers or documents."(Idaho Code § 54-2815)
• "It shall be unlawful for any person to affix a signature, stamp or seal to any document, after the certificate of the registrant named thereon has expired or been suspended or revoked, unless said certificate shall have been renewed, reinstated, or reissued."(Idaho Code § 54-2815)
• "The seal may be a rubber stamp, crimp, or electronically generated image. The Registrant's signature and date are also included. A signature may be a handwritten or digital signature. If the signature is handwritten, it will be adjacent to or across the seal. No further words or wording are required."(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02)
• "The seal, signature, and date must be placed on all final specifications, reports, information, and calculations. A document that is not final and does not contain a seal, signature, and date will be marked as 'Preliminary,' 'Draft,' or 'Not for Construction.'"(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02.a)
• "The seal, signature, and date must be placed on all original documents. The application of the Registrant's seal, signature, and date constitutes certification that the work was done by the Registrant or under the Registrant's supervision. Each plan or drawing sheet is sealed and signed by the Registrant or Registrants responsible for each sheet ... The supervising professional geologist signs and seals the title or first sheet. Only the title page of reports, specifications, and like documents need bear the seal, signature, and date."(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02.b)
• Where the registrant in responsible charge is unavailable to seal, sign and date final documents, a successor registrant takes on responsible charge by reviewing and retaining the project documents in detail, and "must seal, sign, and date all work product."(IDAPA 24.04.01.200.02.c)
• Appendix A, headed "SEAL OF REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST", prints the authorised design: "REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST" around the upper outer ring, "STATE OF IDAHO" around the lower outer ring with a star at each side, and "NAME" and "NO." within the inner ring.(IDAPA 24.04.01, Appendix A)
