Delaware Geologist seal requirements: proper sizing, signing and sealing of documents

As of

Delaware licenses professional geologists under 24 Del. C. Ch. 36, and 24 Del. C. § 3619 requires every licensee to have a seal of a design authorized by the Board by regulation. Rule 3.1 of 24 Del. Admin. Code 3600 fixes the wording as the geologist's name, license number and the phrase "STATE OF DELAWARE - LICENSED PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST", and rule 3.2 sets a minimum diameter of 1 1/2 inches. The seal may be a rubber stamp, an embossed seal, or an electronic seal.

The 1½-to-1¾-inch range widely quoted for Delaware engineers appears in no Delaware authority — Chapter 28 states no dimension and the Council publishes no seal specification. The section often cited for the seal, § 2823, is "Grounds for discipline; appeals". Rule 3.1 sets a compliance deadline of September 30, 2018 for procuring a seal meeting these specifications, and prints a specimen seal that the licensee's seal must match in all respects. Section 3.0 was adopted at 19 DE Reg. 1104 (06/01/16) and carried forward in the Board's 2023 rule amendments (27 DE Reg. 260, 10/01/23).
