Missouri Land Surveyor seal requirements: size, wording, and the rule that sets them

Land surveyors in Missouri seal under 20 CSR 2030-3.060 (Licensee's Seal), administered by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. The seal reads “Professional Land Surveyor”. Exactly one and three-quarters inches (1 3/4 inches) in diameter. The rule prescribes a single diameter, not a range.
Chapter 3 also contains 20 CSR 2030-3.010, which sets the official seal of the Board itself at two and one-quarter inches. That is the Board's own seal, imprinted on documents the Board issues, not the licensee's seal, and the two are easily conflated because they sit in the same chapter.

Can a Missouri land surveyor's seal say "Registered Land Surveyor"?▾
Only a professional land surveyor licensed before January 1, 2002 may display that legend, and choosing it also changes the prefix on the license number: "Registered Land Surveyor" takes the roman capital letters LS, while the current legend "Professional Land Surveyor" takes PLS. Notice what the older form loses — the word "Professional" — so a seal reading "Registered Professional Land Surveyor" matches neither of the two legends the rule authorizes. Can a Missouri land surveyor seal a plat set on the title sheet alone?▾
No. The title-page, index-page or seals-page shortcut is written for bound multiple page documents not considered to be drawings, and a set of plats or survey drawings does not qualify. For drawings the general rule stands: the signature and the date the document was originally sealed go, at the minimum, on the original of each sheet in the set. Even inside the shortcut, any page prepared by or under the immediate personal supervision of another licensee must be signed, sealed and dated by that other licensee. (20 CSR 2030-3.060(5) and (3))
What does a Missouri land surveyor put on a preliminary plat?▾
A disclaimer, placed where the rule says. Technical submissions must be signed, sealed and dated unless clearly designated preliminary or incomplete, not to be used for construction, or a record drawing of as-built construction information provided by others — a record drawing is not simply exempt here, it is in the disclaimer category. In those cases the phrase "The information on this document is preliminary or incomplete, not for construction, recording purposes, or implementation", or a similar disclaimer and notice to others, must be placed in an obvious location so that it is readily found, easily read, and not obscured by other markings. The wording the rule offers names recording purposes, which is the risk on a survey document. (20 CSR 2030-3.060(7))
