The Arkansas rules in full, with citations

The Board's rules were recodified into the Code of Arkansas Rules of 2024, which is what renumbered the seal rule out of the Board's pre-2024 article numbering into 17 CAR § 285-602. The substance is unchanged from the text effective June 1, 2022. Seals previously acquired in compliance with then current rules need not be changed.

FAQ

Arkansas Land Surveyor Seal FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Arkansas digital land surveyor stamps and seals.

How do I obtain a digital Arkansas land surveyor seal or stamp?

Once you are licensed in Arkansas, you can generate your seal here and download it immediately. Fill in the form and position your signature if you want one. The layout follows 17 CAR § 285-602(b) (Seals), which is the provision the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors will measure the seal against.

What are the requirements for the Arkansas land surveyor seal?

Arkansas land surveyor seal rule is 17 CAR § 285-602(b) (Seals), administered by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors. The seal must carry “Licensed Professional Surveyor”, and from one and one-quarter inch (1 ¼ in.) to two inches (2 in.) in diameter, with a milled edge.

A further 4 requirements, each tied to the subsection that imposes it, are itemised in the Arkansas requirements section on this page.

What size does an Arkansas land surveyor seal have to be?

From one and one-quarter inch (1 ¼ in.) to two inches (2 in.) in diameter, with a milled edge. This is set by 17 CAR § 285-602(d)(2)(A).

Does an Arkansas land surveyor's seal say "Land Surveyor"?

It does not. Arkansas licenses professional surveyors, and the legend the rule prescribes is "licensed professional surveyor" — the word "land" appears neither in the legend nor in the name of the board, the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors. A seal reading "Licensed Professional Land Surveyor" departs from both the legend and the board-authorized design. (17 CAR § 285-602(b)(1); 17 CAR § 285-602(d)(1)(A))

Is the Arkansas surveyor's seal laid out like the Arkansas engineer's?

No, and the two designs are printed side by side in the rule that makes them mandatory. On the surveyor's seal LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR runs around the ring, with STATE OF ARKANSAS, the number, a ruled line marked SIGNATURE and the licensee's name stacked inside it. The engineer's seal letters nothing around the ring at all: STATE OF ARKANSAS and LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER both sit stacked in the center, above the number and the name. Copying the engineer's arrangement produces a surveyor seal that does not match the authorized design. (17 CAR § 285-602(d)(1)(A))
